Crystalline Entity

While surveying on Melona IV, Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and his landing party watch helplessly as a deadly lifeform, the Crystalline Entity, attacks the planet, killing two colonists. Back on the Enterprise, the survivors are met by Dr. Kila Marr (Ellen Geer), a scientist obsessed with studying the Entity, because it had also killed her son. But when Picard (Patrick Stewart) announces that he intends to communicate with the Entity rather than destroy it. Dr. Marr, bent on revenge, unleashes a plan of her own.
